Details of the proposals to increase membership fees:

Increase membership fee to £28 per annum.

This is the General Committee recommendation agreed at its November 2025 meeting. It is designed to enable the membership fees to keep pace with inflation,  maintaining existing membership benefits and services, and holding financial reserves at roughly current levels.

Increase membership fee to £35 per annum, proposed by John Bartlet

To formally propose an increase in the annual membership subscription for the Moody Owners Association from the current amount to £35. This adjustment is intended to provide greater financial stability and operational efficiency for the association, while also offering added benefits to our members and committee.

The primary reasons for this proposal are as follows:

1. Elimination of Small, Frequent Increases
Rather than implementing small, incremental rises in subscriptions on a regular basis—which can be disruptive and poorly received—a single, moderate increase to £35 would provide the association with a stable and predictable income for the foreseeable future. This approach reduces the need for frequent reviews and allows for better long-term planning.

  1. Reduction in Administrative Burden
A higher subscription rate would significantly decrease the time and effort currently spent by the membership secretary on chasing standing orders and managing numerous small payments. This would free up valuable volunteer time, allowing the secretary to focus on more productive tasks that benefit the association and its members.
  2. Reimbursement of Committee Expenses
The additional income generated from this increase could be used to reimburse committee members for travel costs and hotel expenses incurred when attending the Annual General Meeting (AGM). Many of our committee members dedicate considerable personal time and resources to the association, and offering reimbursement for these expenses is a fair and encouraging step toward recognising their contributions.
  3. Enhanced Financial Resilience
The extra funds would also provide a buffer for unforeseen expenses or allow the association to invest in initiatives that enhance member value, such as improved resources, events, or communications.I believe that this proposal aligns with the best interests of the association and its members, offering both practical and financial advantages.  I trust the points raised can be put to members for consideration and approval at the AGM.
