Rally To The Medway
Event Description
If you’ve not visited the Medway before then this could be your chance! It is a river rich with history, from the naval dockyards to various forts and defences and historic wrecks. The iconic 3 masts of the Richard Montgomery (WWII shipwreck) are due to be removed this year, it could be your last opportunity to see them. There is also abundant wildlife with a wide variety of birds and plenty of grey seals.
We will mainly be based at the Medway Yacht Club but for those that can travel up on Friday we can welcome you at Queenborough conveniently close to the mouth of the Medway.

Navigation and Tide Info
While in the Medway monitor VHF Channel 74 for all shipping movements and keep clear of the docks, especially the LPG berths (exclusion zone marked on the charts as well as a recommended yacht track for the Medway entrance). From the entrance to the Medway (adjacent to Sheerness Docks) the distance to the Medway Yacht Club is a little under 10NM so best to allow a couple of hours. The Medway estuary winds through mud flats and marshes but is well buoyed so navigation shouldn’t be a problem.
All locations (Queenborough, Stangate and Medway Yacht Club) are available at all states of tide.
